This fine stone-built holiday home is in the heart of the Belper Conservation area, near the old village of mill-workers houses known locally as The Clusters. The Chapel, a Grade II listed building, dates from 1817, and is close to the town centre of Belper, a market town on the doorstep of the Derbyshire Peak District National Park.
Belper and the surrounding district of Amber Valley make an excellent base for visiting the many attractions of the area, with Alton Towers, Crich Tramway Village, The American Adventure, Midland Railway Centre, Chatsworth, Kedleston and Haddon Halls, Buxton, Bakewell and the Peak District, Matlock Baths Cable Cars and Gullivers Kingdom . . . all within a short drive. The local area is of great interest to enthusiasts of our industrial heritage, from the Strutt Mills and Heritage Centre just across from the Chapel, to the many other mills, canals, engine houses and museums in and around Belper and the World Heritage Site of the Derwent Valley, which runs from Derby right to the Derwent reservoirs in the High Peak. The town offers many handy shops, including some that are glad to deliver to you, a wealth of real ale and family style pubs, live music and disc-bars, and an excellent range of restaurants: French, Greek, Italian, Cantonese, plus award-winning Fish & Chips, Pizza Parlours, and Indian take-aways! A Good Pub and Restaurant Guide is available at the Property. The towns pubs, bistros and heritage trails are at the door, with riverside walks 400 yards and two sports centres at 2 and 4 miles. There are three seven-day opening supermarkets in Belper. The American Adventure, Alton Towers, Chatsworth are all under 30 minutes, with climbing, caving and gliding under 20 miles and watersports at Carsington Water just 6 miles.
The Old Chapel is one of those rare properties that can accommodate with ease the really large party seeking a well-equipped, comfortable and good value holiday base for that family holiday or special gathering! Theres a huge 40ft galleried and beamed lounge (18ft ceiling), a wealth of bathrooms and some en-suite facilities, extra ground floor sitting rooms and childrens playspace easy to spread out and the fully-fitted kitchen includes range oven, dishwasher, microwave, freezer, washer, dryer and more! The secluded private and enclosed garden has a brick barbecue and two or more picnic tables for summer use, and there is private parking for up to 4 vehicles just to the rear of the Chapel, with nearby short-stay and long-stay car parks.
